Thank you for asking about the ACHMR. The Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights (ACMHR) was a civil rights organization in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. The organization coordinated boycotts and sponsored federal lawsuits aimed at dismantling segregation in Birmingham and Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement.

Maggie, at the end of the blog, you’ll see a bio of Rene Billups Baker, the author, and there’s a link to her book on Amazon: My Life with Charles Billups Baker and Martin Luther King: Trauma and the Civil Rights Movement. Here’s a link to buy the book https://www.amazon.com/dp/1732242704/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_.QtfDbMZMMGA9 I’m thrilled that you are so interested. Billups life and contribution are a very important piece of personal and national history that has been mostly overlooked. We are working to get the word out! Thanks for your interest!
